How to log in

HomeHQ has one login screen and three buttons on it. Here is what each one does.

The short version

Tap "Continue with Google". That is the login for almost everyone.

The same Google login is what grants calendar and tasks access, so there is no second connection step.

If someone sent you a code, tap "I have a join code" instead so you land in their household, not a new empty one.

The three buttons

Continue with Google

The normal way in. Pick your Google account, approve calendar and tasks access, and you are signed in.

Google access is not an extra: it is what lets HomeHQ read and write your family calendar. Without it the app has nothing to show.

Sign in with Apple

Built, but switched off during the beta. When it turns on, signing in with Apple gets you an account, and you connect Google separately afterwards for the calendar.

I have a join code

Use this when someone in your family already set HomeHQ up and sent you an eight-character code. It signs you in and then asks for the code, so you land in their household.

Tapping the wrong button here is the most common setup mistake. If you sign in the normal way with a code in hand, you end up in a brand-new empty household on your own.

What HomeHQ can see in your Google account

Calendar and Tasks, and nothing else. It does not read your email, your contacts or your files.

Within Calendar it works on the one calendar your household picked during setup. Your other calendars are left alone.

Signing out, switching, and deleting

Sign out lives at the bottom of Settings, under About HomeHQ. Signing out does not delete anything.

To move to a different household, open Settings and use "Join a different household" with the new code.

Delete my account is right below Sign out. It removes your sign-in, your access to the household and your chat history for good. If you are the last person in the household, the household goes too. There is no undo.

Common questions

Questions people ask.

You probably signed in normally when you had a join code. Open Settings, tap "Join a different household", and enter your code. That moves you to the right household.

They can, but do not. Chores, points and streaks are per person, and the assistant answers based on who is asking. Give everyone their own account.

Tasks is where to-dos sync, so items you add in HomeHQ show up in Google and the other way around.

Yes, at myaccount.google.com under third-party access. Revoking it stops the calendar syncing, so the app will not have much to show.
